CofC Radio is the official student operated radio station at the College of Charleston and as an independent college station, we try to introduce new music ahead of the curve and portray a sense of the CofC Student Community. CofC Radio is unique because it is an online-based station. This gives listeners the opportunity to listen practically anywhere with the click of a mouse on our LISTEN LIVE page. The music played at the station includes, but is not limited to hip hop, country, rap, alternative, rock, jazz, indie rock, and pop. About the Staff-
General Manager: Mackenzie Armstrong – Mackenzie@cougarmedianetwork.com
Mackenzie Armstrong has been part of CofC Radio since 2008, when she started hosting a show under the alias Penny Lane, now as the General Manager she helps organized CofC Radio instead of broadcasting on it. Mackenzie is a senior at the College studying Business Administration with a minor in Communications. Music has always been an interest, but she also enjoys exploring Charleston, geocaching, sleeping, Farmers’ Markets, art and movies. After College, Mackenzie hopes to manage a Venue or work at a Radio Station on the southeast coast. “It’s all happening!”- Penny Lane

Alyssa Thornton likes begonias, the color purple, Greek food, Bach, craft projects and thumbtacks. She was born a Yankee and bred a southern girl, finally settling in Greenville, SC after moving 8 times with her family. Alyssa is a junior at the college, majoring in psychology and biology and pursuing a minor in neuroscience. Ridiculous academic choices aside, Alyssa has been a DJ at CofC Radio for the past two years after discovering the station on Facebook the summer before she started at CofC. She now has an awesome time getting paid to be a DJ wrangler. She has a deep and abiding love for 90’s pop music and secretly aspires to be in a boy band.

Cayla is a Virginia Beach native who loves discovering new music and plays violin and piano. Her favorite bands include Modest Mouse, Days Away, Kings of Leon, and The Format. In her spare time Cayla enjoys reading and watching British television shows about alien time-lords. This is Cayla’s second year at CofC Radio, having been a DJ last year. She is a junior at the College, studying Spanish and Theatre. Post-college Cayla plans to pursue a career as a merch girl or tour manager for a band you’ve probably never heard of… or a Barbara Streisand impersonator.

Beginning his education in music at a young age, Matt Zutell plays drums, guitar, trumpet, keys, and the larynx. Expanding upon his outlet for writing songs, Matt began exploring audio engineering and music production, hoping to pursue a career as a commercial songwriter and music producer. From Charlotte, N.C., Matt is a junior economics major at the College of Charleston.
