CisternYard.com is the flagship product of CisternYard Media, the student media office of the College of Charleston. Combining the best content from CisternYard News, CisternYard Radio, and CisternYard Video in one multimedia-friendly place gives you the best access to campus news and entertainment.
CisternYard Media is comprised of four student media organizations and two supporting departments. Each group offers unique ways for students to become involved, meet people from diverse backgrounds and gain practical training in various media.
CisternYard News is the official online campus news source, publishing news, sports, and entertainment content regularly online at Cisternyard.com. CYN also produces “The Yard,” a feature magazine which is printed two times each semester.
Miscellany is the College’s student-produced literary and art journal. Students are invited to submit original artwork, poetry, photography and prose for to be considered for inclusion in the publication. A student committee consisting of individuals selected by the editor-in-chief will meet during the beginning of each spring semester to select works for publication in Miscellany. The finished product is distributed to the campus community in April.
CisternYard Video is the College’s official, on-campus video production team whose work can be seen online at CisternYard.com. CYV is in charge with covering news, sports, entertainment, and a variety of activities across the College of Charleston community.
CisternYard Radio is the College of Charleston’s internet radio station and the City of Charleston’s first college radio station. This station is also the area’s only music service dedicated to showcasing independent, new artists with an emphasis on local talent. CisternYard Radio also provides opportunities for weekly shows ranging from news and sports to entertainment. Listen to the 24/7 broadcast, and on-demand interviews, online at CisternYard.com.
The advertising department is responsible for the advertising sales efforts of the network and work most specifically with G Magazine and cisternyard.com, the flagship website of CisternYard Media.
The public relations department is responsible for the supervision of the public relations and marketing efforts of CisternYard Media. This office also coordinates all network-wide events, as well as assisting with events for each organization.

CisternYard News placed in top three SC collegiate websites | April 2013
CisternYard News placed third in the open category for websites in the South Carolina Press Association (SCPA) collegiate division. In addition to this award, it placed first in the monthly/bi-monthly category for its staff editorial titled “Fixing a top heavy administration,” which was printed in the October 2012 issue of The Yard.

CisternYard.com wins seventh place at ACP/CMA national convention | Oct. 30, 2011:
The George Street Observer, Cougar Television (CTV) and CofC Radio staff received recognition in the Best of Show small school publication website category for their combined work on CisternYard.com. The website placed in the top ten recognized with the ranking of seventh place in the nation. The ACP/CMA National College Media Convention took place in Orlando from Oct. 26 to 30. The Editor-in-Chief of the George Street Observer is Geoff Yeost. Mackenzie Armstrong is the General Manager for CofC Radio and Abby Frye is the General Manager for CTV.
