Start packing your bags! Spring break is upon us, which means it is time to put your books away for a while and indulge in a relaxing, week-long vacation. Whether you are headed to white sandy beaches or beautiful snow-covered mountains, having these items with you on your flight will put you on top of the travel game.
Pack an empty water bottle in your carry-on and make sure to fill it up before you hop on the plane. This will come in handy on your trip as it will be important to drink lots of water, especially if you plan on lounging in the sun all day. Remember, keeping your body hydrated helps combat bad sunburns!
Love listening to music? Make sure you do not forget to bring your headphones. If you are one of those people that always gets stuck beside a screaming baby, having a set of headphones handy will be crucial. Pop your headphones in and jam out to your favorite playlist while you wait for the plane to land.
A Good Book
Now that you have a break from the loads of homework and midterms, you finally have time to sit down and read a book for your own pleasure. Reading a book is a terrific way to pass travel time. Grab that book you have been dying to read and throw it in your carry-on. Even after the flight, you will be glad you did so when you are sitting pool-side with a good read. Some CYN favorites are “Coco Chanel, An Intimate Life” by Lisa Chaney and “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein.
Airplanes are notoriously chilly, so make sure you have an extra layer accessible for your flight. Pack a sweatshirt or a blanket and cozy up in your seat. While you may not wear a sweatshirt when the sun is blazing hot, it can protect you at night when the bugs are out and about. Even if you do not use the extra layer on your trip, you will be thankful that you came prepared.
Have a problem with your ears popping when you fly? This annoying misfortune can be avoided with a pack of gum! Not only does it keep your breath fresh, it also helps to prevent the dreaded ear-popping. Your ears will thank you!
If you are flying out of Charleston International Airport, stop for a coffee at Caviar and Bananas while you wait to board your flight. This will give you one last taste of Charleston before you leave the beloved Holy City for a week.
