The College of Charleston (5-15, 4-7 SoCon) took down Western Carolina (6-13, 1-9 SoCon) in the TD Arena; not allowing the Catamounts dip into the three game winning streak the Cougars now posses. By the half the ladies were winning by 10 points, 26-16; increasing their win to a 15 point victory over the Catamounts.

“We are excited to get the double-digit win tonight,” Head Coach Nancy Wilson said. “Western Carolina is going through some struggles right now, but it was nice to see our team step up and take advantage of the opportunity.”

Nine of the Cougars had points on the board with all 10 players collecting at least two rebounds before the game’s end. Leading the Cougars in points was junior Cathryn Hardy with 10 points. Following her was junior Megan Fischer with nine points and sophomore Jillian Brown with eight points and eight rebounds. Junior Latisha Harris also had a great showing for the Cougars with seven points and seven rebounds.

The Cougars blasted out of the gates during the second half with a three-pointer from sophomore Alyssa Frye and a layup by Fischer. The Cougars were able to hold this lead by at least 10 points for the rest of the way to victory.

The team will play next in a road game against Georgia Southern on Jan. 28 at 3:00 p.m. in Statesboro, Ga.
